Vintage Guitars

I’ve always loved the look of American made Guitars, even before I could play one. America based Luthiers invented the Electric and Steel String Acoustic Guitar and in this series are guitars from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s - arguably the “Golden Age“ of American Electric Guitars. I photographed them in 1993 against a trompe l’oeil backdrop painted by the Scenic Artist Eddie Howe. And each guitar has a story behind it, like the Les Paul “Black Beauty“ Custom which was owned by a well known Studio Session Musician who sadly had Parkinson’s disease and could no longer play, the guitar was being sold on his behalf.

All photographed on 10x8 Plate Camera.
